On 1stDecember 2017, Ocer celebrated the feast of St. Edmund Campion; the patron saint of the school. Ocer was privileged to have the Archbishop of Gulu diocese, John Baptist Odama as the chief guest. The day started with a mass celebration with the Archbishop as the main celebrant assisted by other priests. It was a colorful ceremony as a procession of the religious was ushered in by the altar servants and dancers dressed in brightly decorated attires. The priests looked heavenly in their priestly robes. It was a sight to marvel at.

During the celebrations, 32 students received the sacrament of confirmation which was ministered by the Archbishop. The confirmed students looked angelic in their white garments.

The Archbishop praised the school for having a conducive environment which is not only good for education but also for formation.

“This is a good spiritual atmosphere where you have a chance to pray, other schools do not have this opportunity,’’said the Archbishop.

In his homily, the Archbishop, John Baptist Odama urged people to be united and imitate Jesus in their daily lives. He challenged the young people to be the solution and urged them to be the asset not the loss for the good of humanity.

“Ocer, champion the cause of unity, ’said the Archbishop as he concluded his homily. Different people from various walks of life graced the occasion. Among these were students and teachers of Ocer, neighboring community members, partners and the alumni of Ocer.

Guests were treated to different kinds of entertainment such as traditional and creative dances among others.  A party is not party without food; guests were treated to a delicious buffet lunch. They were also served dessert; delicious and divine cake baked by the resident Sacred Heart Sisters.
