Encounters with Silence - Karl Rahner

Only in love can I find You, my God. In love the gates of my soul
spring open, allowing me to breath a new air of freedom and forget
my own petty self. In love my whole being streams forth out of the
rigid confines of narrowness and anxious self-assertion, which
make me a prisoner of my own poverty and emptiness. In love all
the powers of my soul flow out toward You, wanting never more to
return, but to lose themselves completely in You, since by Your love
You are the inmost center of my heart, closer to me than I am to
myself.

Karl Rahner, from Encounters with Silence

Ocer progress aknowledged by Rogers

Rogers Ocan works as a supervisor at the site (in the picture 4th from the left). According to Rogers the current number of the workers shot to 60. This is due to road construction at the site and other farm activities. This number has been retained for road maintenance purposes. He says our workers have a good spirit and work in solidarity.

He appreciated their quality production in terms of construction and farm output. Most masons have learnt more from the site that has improved their skills. Also the farmers have equally improved their skills, which have doubled the produce in the farm. For instance they planted 4000 eucalyptus trees, 150 oranges and lemons and a variety of food crops like groundnuts, maize, rice and bananas/ plantains.

Rogers added that this progress is owed to the efforts of the teachers and supervisors at the site. Among the community members are Sr. Philomena D.A., Sr. Teddy E., Sr. Martina I. (Sacred Heart Sisters ? Moyo), Beate Ringwald (Jesuit Mission Volunteer) and Mr. Amabile, who teach in the worker?s class and John David Lwanga, Mr. Otim, an architect, Francis Opiyo and Rogers Ocan, who together supervise the construction work.

The picture was taken when the new Provincial of the East African Province visited the site in August 2009. From left to right: Agbonkianmeghe Emmanuel Orobator, Provincial of the Eastern Africa Province; Fr. Isaak SJ; Abononi Okumu, head of the clan who gave the land; Rogers Ocan, supervisor; Mr. Otim, architect; Fr. Tony Wach SJ, president.
