Easter Celebrations

In remembrance of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, students and staff of OCJC started the Holy Week with a solemn procession on Palm Sunday. Four days later, on Holy Thursday, we met for mass to commemorate the last supper of Jesus and his disciples. A heavy downpour did not allow us to have the “stations of the cross” on Good Friday. We instead met at our usual prayer place (an open and sheltered area) to feel and reflect about Jesus’ suffering. Next day, Fr. Tony and Fr. Jino Mwaka (Catechetical Centre of Gulu) offered the sacrament of reconciliation. More than 100 students took the opportunity to confess their failures in the presence of God. “OCER”, an Acholi word which means “He is risen”, was the main theme for the following day. With joy and enthusiasm we celebrated the risen Christ and his victory against death and all evil of the world. We thanked God especially for the gift of every student and the growth of our school which was built up in the bush of Northern Ugandan, a region that had suffered for so many years.
